General Standard
A Senior Research Fellow is expected to make major and unique contributions to his/her field of expertise and to the broader enterprise of his/her area of research. He or she is also expected to play a significant role within his/her profession or discipline at the national level. Research staff at this level may be appointed in recognition of distinction in his or her area of scholarship.
Specific Duties and Skills
- Conduct independent research, exercise research team leadership, generate and publish creative books and papers in refereed journals, attend conferences, present seminar papers, collect and analyse data, and write factual reports

Three research papers (or equivalent) per year with priority on the research agenda of the Institute

Supervision of staff (research, administrative and technical) engaged in the relevant research programs

Make financial projections and assessments of research projects, plan and organize fund-raising, sponsorship activities as well as manage research teams

Take responsibility for the maintenance and renewal of funding in the relevant research area

Promote research links within Malaysia and abroad which enhance the profile of the discipline in the scientific and general community

Provide opportunities for the application of research findings

Contribute to the planning and contents of teaching programs in his/her area of expertise, in keeping with the objectives of the International Institute of Advanced Islamic Studies (IAIS)

Contribute to the research policy and management of IAIS

Contribute to the research culture of the organisational unit through membership and chairing of relevant committees

Formulate pragmatic policy recommendations for government actors
Qualifications and Experience
The Senior Research Fellow must have at least eight years of post-doctoral research with significant academic results and a profile of international excellence in the relevant research field recognised by peers.
