General Standard
The Principal Research Fellow is expected to make independent and resourceful contributions to the relevant disciplines and to the organisational unit to which the Fellow is attached. The Fellow is expected to play a major role in the development of research, leadership and management aspects of his/her field of expertise.
Specific Duties and Skills
- Conduct independent research individually or as leader of a team; write and publish creative books as well as papers in refereed journals, attend conferences and present seminar papers and reports
- Supervise research as well as technical and administrative staff and activities in the program
- Make financial projections and carry out assessments of projects, suggest and organize fund-raising activities and sponsorship schemes and manage research programs
- Take responsibility for the preparation of research submissions in relevant fields
- Promote research links with relevant organisations in and outside of Malaysia
- Contribute to the planning and contents of teaching programmes in the area of expertise, consistently with the objectives of the International Institute of Advanced Islamic Studies (IAIS)
- Contribute to the research culture of the Institute, membership of relevant committees and the research output of his/her relevant unit
- Formulate pragmatic policy recommendations for government actors
Qualifications and Experience
A Principal Research Fellow must have at least five years post-doctoral experience and a profile of distinction in the relevant research field.
