The Journal of Civilisation Studies publishes original research works. Contributors to the JCS should take the following guidelines into consideration:
- Articles should not have been published elsewhere or sent for publication. Articles that have been a part of dissertation can be considered if there is a major modification and adjustment.
- All received articles will be evaluated by specialised referees. Selected articles will be returned to the writers with reviewer comments along with the Editorial Board decision regarding their publication. The editorial board may not give reasons in cases where the articles are far below the expected standards of scholarship. Articles submitted to the Journal are not returnable whether they are accepted for publication or not. Referees are expected to return their review within a month.
- The Editorial Board holds the right to make any necessary changes in the approved articles for publication upon consultation with the writers.
- Publication of articles in the Journal is based on the article’s value and merit rather than on the writer’s positions.
- Articles should not exceed 10,000 words. Book reviews should not exceed 1200 words.
- Writers should submit their articles with the title, the writer’s name and affiliation as they would want them to appear. Authors should also provide their contact details and include a 100 to 150 words abstract.
- Articles should be submitted both in hard and soft copies. In case of any difficulty in making soft copy available, hard copy should be clear, legible and double-spaced.
- All submissions to the Journal should conform to the format described in the Chicago Manual of style. Format of the references should be as follows:
|
First citation:
Author’s full name, title of the book, place of publication, publisher, year of publication, relevant page number.
Subsequent citation:
- Last name of the same author, short title of the book, relevant page number.
- Arabic, Shari`ah, Qur’an and Sunnah terms should be properly transliterated.
- Preferably articles to be written by using AHT Times New Roman fonts, size 12 following the new Encylopedia of Islam (Edition: II), Leiden, Netherlands.
- Contributors will receive free copies of the Journal issue in which their articles appear.
