JCS is an international bi-annual refereed journal in English, Arabic and Bahasa Malaysia published by the International Institute of Advanced Islamic Studies (IAIS). It carries articles, selective studies, book reviews, conference reports and interviews on civilisation studies of relevance to Malaysia and the Muslim world.

JCS promotes Islam Hadhari and comparative civilisation studies with a focus on policy research, shariah and law, inter-faith and inter-civilisational dialogue and principles of governance.

JCS advances critical research and original scholarship on theoretical, empirical, historical, inter-disciplinary and comparative studies.

JCS promotes moderation, creative and original contributions within contemporary Muslim scholarship. It seeks to stimulate and revive Ijtihad in various Islamic disciplines.

JCS advances the practical civilisational concepts and values of Islam through strategic, policy and problem-solving studies and recommendations for the benefit of the ummah in global human civilisation.

JCS promotes advanced Islamic research on the civilisational progress of Muslims, critical assessment of modernity, post -modernity and globalisation.
